X-Fab to Acquire Malaysian 1st Silicon

German X-Fab has announced that it will acquire Malaysian semiconductor foundry 1st Silicon through an equity exchange. This acquisition, which is expected to boost X-Fab's market share in Asia Pacific, will double X-Fab's annual 12-inch wafer capacity to 700,000 units, while X-Fab will also obtain 0.25-, 0.18-, and 0.13-micron production processes.
